In the middle ages the castle was a fortress which garded and watched the valley. Surrounded by high walls, 5 towers, planks equipped with a weigh bridge.

During the 18th century, the castle is decorated and embellished by wood pannels, walls tapestries, wood floors which witness the rich « art de vivre » of the french Dauphiné nobility.


The castle and its gardens are officially recognized as Historical Monuments.
